CPC or a Certificate of Professional Competence is a legal requirement for all HGV license holders that wish to work and earn a salary as a driver. The qualification needs to be renewed every 5 years.

Those that passed their car test after 1997 and have not held a CPC before will do the Initial CPC. This is split into two parts. Module 2 and Module 4. Module 2 is a theory test and Module 4 is a practical 'show me tell me test.

Drivers that passed their car test before 1997 and/or have held a CPC before will do the Periodic CPC. This is 35 hours of online training. No test, attendance only is required.
